On the Farm

John and I got to take a trip up to the Farm this weekend to visit the Morrison Family and take a few pictures. It has been such a treat getting to know the Morrisons over these last few years, and I always enjoy taking pictures of their kids. This time was a special treat because we did something a little different: a giant pillow fight! Yes, at the end of our session we let the kids have a giant pillow fight so I could take some candid photos. I must say these photos are absolutely priceless, and I am so glad we did this! Thanks guys for bringing the mattress out into the field. We had such a great time on Saturday - a break very much needed!

So this past weekend I finished up my sessions with Shalene and Kayla. We had a great time driving down to Crocker, MO for the first part of our session and finishing the rest up here in downtown Springfield. 5 Reasons I KNOW for sure I am PREGNANT!!!

Note#1: Despite all of these crazy reasons John and I are absolutely thrilled, ecstatic, and overjoyed to be welcoming Baby Washburn #2. No we will not be announcing the name until baby arrives, and yes we have decided we are going to find out the sex of the baby due to our possible major life change, moving to Peru, next Fall.

Note #2: I do not feel like I am showing earlier than last time, but if I relax it looks like I am 5 months along - of course this is due to Baby Washburn #1, Caleb. Totally worth every stretched out ab muscle.

Okay now for these reasons....

Reason #1 Well the Pregnancy test told me so - that one is obvious I suppose :) Caleb tells me everyday as well by pointing to my belly and saying baby, but with a Spanish accent -- priceless.

Reason #2 I am sick all of the time - yes morning, afternoon, night time, even when I wake up to go to the bathroom a million times in the night...which leads me to number 3...

Reason #3 The bathroom and I have become best friends.

Reason #4 I am loosing my memory, and quite frankly I think my mind. Yes it's true I made a pizza with hash browns instead of cheese. No it was not on purpose, and yes it was truly disgusting. I am also talking to inanimate objects like they are children?? Oh, and I forget things like giving my 16 month old a bowl of yogurt is a bad idea...because he does not know how to use a spoon yet...as shown below. Not sure what I was thinking or if I was even thinking. He was being so quiet and content I was just letting him be. Then I glanced over at him and thought to myself, "I think it is bath time".

Reason #5 I have gone through I think 5 or 6 bags of apples already. Yes, I know a strange craving but it happened with Caleb as well. Unfortunately it seems as though my favorite brand of apple, pink lady apples, is out of season...strange. Also unfortunately, I do not really like any other food right now...as a result no weight gain. Totally typical for me though so no worries.

We finally got to finish up this session yesterday. The rain here in Springfield has been crazy. Glad it worked out before little Jackson made his debut. Oh boy am I looking forward to his little newborn shots! And check out his darling little booties - oh Jackson you are already so loved by your mommy and daddy. Too cute! I should also add that Mom is looking absolutely, fantasticly cute as well!

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Hernandez! Joseph and Kelli tied the knot during our crazy week of rain. Unfortunately the rain kind of put a damper on this cute, little, out-door, country wedding. Luckily the Bride and Groom were prepared with a tent - because we needed it! What a lovely fall wedding - and decorated perfectly for the season at that. It was obvious the decor was well thought through, and of course had a very personal touch of - JOHN DEER! Loved it. Enjoy!

...Little Man is Growing Up...

It's hard to believe our little man is going to be 16 months this month. I cannot believe how fast time escapes from me. I have been so busy taking pictures of other peoples children that I have forgotten to take some of mine! Totally typical of me. As a photographer I also need to force myself to realize that it is okay to take pictures of him even if they are not absolutely perfect. That is super hard for me but again, totally typical.

It's so much harder for me to take pictures of him these days because he is such a little mover. I think I knew one day it would get harder to take those "really good" pictures of him, and that day has come. Since most of the day is spent running around, lots of my pictures look like this.

No that is not intentional blur - as a photographer I wish I could say, "yeah, I did that on purpose" - um no - that is just how life is right now. A big blur :)

Oh well. I am grateful for every moment of it, and would not change it for the world. I love him so very much.

Oh man, he was loving this new little hat I got him - that's right a garage sale treasure.

Back to School, and Time For Senior Portraits

Let's start with --- all of my babysitters are awesome. ALL of them. And a few of them I get to do photos sessions with, and that is even more awesome. So take a look at BeAuTiFuL Shalene! Shalene has been a consistent babysitter for us now for about 6 months. We got to know Shalene through our life group at church. Our life group leaders have two boys, and two older girls, both of which are excellent babysitters. We are so blessed to find people we can trust to watch our boy. Thanks Shalene!

And..on a different note every time these girls call me to schedule photos they always pick days where it is pouring down rain! Yesterday I thought for sure we would have to cancel but luckily we beat the rain in the evening. It actually turned out to be perfect weather for our session. Praise God!

The Pyatt Family

Last time I saw this little guy he was still a newborn. It is unbelievable how quick they grow! Isn't he just a little cutie?? I was absolutely loving his wavy hair. It was so funny because he was such a serious little guy - it was hard to get him to crack a smile - that is unless mom tickled him. The Childers Family: One and Expecting

I had a fun, relaxing late afternoon with the fabulous Childers Family yesterday. We were at one of my favorite places to photograph here in Springfield: Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Parks.

The Childers Family is expecting a little girl very, very soon. I must say Corrianna is one brave woman, she will be having her baby on Wednesday, and she was still up for taking pictures yesterday!

She was such a beautiful little Mama. Their little boy was such a handsome little man as well. Since Mom is a photographer he was used to being in front of the camera, and he did such a good job. He is so excited to be a big brother! What a wonderful evening. Enjoy the shots!

Baby Alison

Well after rescheduling Baby Alison's photos a few times due to the weather, I am glad to say we finally got them done - AND they turned out wonderfully. She was such a trooper, and Mom & Dad's work paid off. Parents are such a help to me when it comes to babies. Mom and Dad were making all kinds of noises, waving toys, and making funny faces just to get Miss Alison to smile. It worked! Thanks guys. Enjoy the pictures!

...Two little Love Birds...

I was so, so, so happy I got to spend some time with my sister and my brother this time during my crazy travels. My sister even drove 2 and a half hours to spend some more time with me! My brother totally had to work :( so sad... but I had fun with my sister. I also got to take some pictures of her and her man. It was nice to get to know her man a little better - and rumor is he enjoyed playing Settlers of Catan with us until the early morning hours.What a lovely couple. Thanks Sis! -

Oh and you are super BeAuTiFuL - both outside and inside!!! It is crazy how your siblings grow up before your very eyes. I am so proud of the woman she has come to be. Keep trucking Connie :)

Mr. & Mrs. Ring

My Sister's all time best friend got married about a week ago in Colorado Springs, and I was blessed to be her photographer! I can officially say this was the first wedding I have ever had to carry an umbrella for but that does not surprise me since I lived in Colorado for a while. Colorado Springs has the craziest weather patterns, and we were all praying for no rain. Fortunately the rain stopped for the bride to walk down the isle and it was only trickling during the ceremony. It is hard to hold a couple of cameras and an umbrella. What an experience!

I had a fabulous morning out at Nathanael Greene Park with Mitch and Jessica. What a fun, and flexible couple! They were always willing to try anything I had in mind. We had beautiful weather this morning - even though it was a little hot - at least we did not get rained on.

Oh, and for the first time I got to snap some shots in the Japanese Stroll Gardens - that is one cool place. Thanks guys! I think we did good! Enjoy!

Mr. & Mrs. Koepke

I had a great time on Sunday photographing the newly married Mr. & Mrs. Koepke. This bride was one of the most organized yet relaxed brides I have ever photographed. Her organization paid off seeing as the day rolled by without a single glitch. Every detail fell beautifully into place.

A friend of the Bride was so kind as to bring a chaise lounge for us to take some photos in - which pretty much made my day.

I love that weddings are such a family effort. Family and friends were with the Bride and Groom helping them every step of the way - from the handmade flower girl dresses, to the intricate details of the reception. Everything was beautiful.

I was love, love, loving the Bride's shoes :)

Even though we hit record breaking temperatures here in Springfield on Sunday - we did have a few minutes of shade for the ceremony, and I think we were all grateful for that.

The Bride being a true photographer was never without a camera.

The reception was done in blues and greens, and even included a root beer float bar!

On Saturday I made my very first trip down south to Kimberling City. For those of you who are Missouri natives I know it is embarrassing that this was my first time down on Table Rock lake but in my favor I have only been here 2 years - remember I am not originally from MO but CO. I must say I have been missing out because Table Rock Lake is pretty darn cool.

This was such a pretty, little, backyard wedding. The bride and groom got married on the lake right in their backyard! It was so special and unique just to them. This was a family effort from decorating the tent, right down to the home-cooked dinner. I must say people in MO know how to cook! Good food - that is for sure. I had a wonderfully, relaxed time shooting this wedding, and I could not have asked for more on a holiday weekend. HaPpY FoUrTh of JULY!

I thought it was great that once the Bride was done getting her hair fancied up she did everyone else's hair!

The Bride had beautiful eyes.

I was loving the orange dresses - and unintentionally I was matching. The accessories to these dresses were pretty much awesome as well.

I was enjoying the wedding party. They were so relaxed and chill...and they knew how to get some air on those jumps!

I had to post this because their flowers were so different. I am loving the bright colors - for all of you soon to be brides out there - COLOR IS SO,SO,SO GOOD for your photos.

The Preston Twins: Part II

Yesterday I spent some time at the Preston house taking some photos of their newest little additions. I have never had the opportunity to do a twins shoot - and I know it is cheesy to say - but it was twice the fun! This was such a laid back, fun afternoon - and of course I got to hold babies - and that was just icing on the cake. I had such a great afternoon - minus my car not starting - long story..but I do want to give a big shout out to Kim's Mom because she was a trooper trying to help me out with that crazy mess. What a GORGEOUS - gorgeous - GoRgEoUs - wedding I got to photograph yesterday downtown at the old historic firehouse. The old firehouse is pretty much every photographers dream - with all kinds of great places for photos. I was loving every bit of it. We were blessed with mild weather for the ceremony - which we were all grateful for since it had been raining earlier on in the day. Both the ceremony and the reception were at the firehouse. This venue is so awesome - with a beautiful little courtyard right outside the station and an old vintage ball room for the reception was like icing on the cake! Nathan and Natalie were a pleasure to work with! Natalie was so BEAUTIFUL in her gown with her bright pink shoes. Natalie did such a creative job decorating, choosing such unique and brightly colored items to adorn her tables. It looked absolutely stunning. To top things off they had a candy bar, a chocolate fountain, and a picture booth. What a FUN wedding! Enjoy all of the FUN pictures!!!

Yesterday I got to take some photos of the Rush Family. We went down to Nathanael Greene Park early in the morning yesterday - thank goodness because it was already hot. We did the Rush family first and then took a large extended family shot as well. It was nice having the whole family there because they were so good at getting Miss Makenna to smile for me - and I think I got some great shots! Mr. & Mrs. Grose: Part II

So here are the rest of the detail shots from the Grose Wedding. Wish I could have taken more but I did not realize how busy I would be as a bridesmaid. That is why there are tons of pictures of her getting her hair done in the morning but not much after the wedding started. I was super grateful to have my brother in law & his girlfriend watch Caleb during the actual wedding ceremony. They were so helpful!

I must say their wedding cake - by far - was the best wedding cake I have ever tasted. And, on top of that it was pretty cool looking too. Check it out!

It had two separate layers - I only had the one that was chocolate with chocolate chips - and oh man was that tasty!

Caleb turned one on Sunday! We cannot believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like just yesterday we took him home from the hospital. Being a parent is so much more fun than I could have ever imagined! Happy Birthday big BOY!

Thanks everyone for all of Caleb's awesome gifts! He loves them!

I did make the cake. This was my second fondant cake - it was so much fun - however it was tedious and very time consuming.

I was so grateful my Mom came in to help me with everything.

Oh and the cupcakes were orange spice with espresso frosting, and chocolate chunk with nutella frosting. Needless to say I have not lost any weight this week! :) They were super yummy though.

I felt like preparing for this party was like preparing for my wedding. Lots of details. Um, next year I am gonna have to work something else out. That was A LOT OF WORK!

The Kembell Family Welcomes a New Addition

It is always such a treat getting to do photos of old friends. A few months ago the Shalosky Family grew to three with the birth of their son, Sawyer. He is such a handsome little man, and I know they could not be any happier.

These guys had planned this shoot way in advance since they knew I would be coming down, and go figure the weather was horrible that day! What a good time I had with the Bailey Family yesterday down at Red Rocks here in Colorado Springs! It was refreshing to hang out with some old friends. It made me realize how fast time has gone by - now that they have a 6 month old! I remember knowing these two in college before they got married and later had little Chase. Wow, it goes by too fast! Here is a sneak peak of Derrick and Emily's wedding. It has taken me a while to get them up but here they are!

This beautiful couple got married at the Springfield boathouse in a small, and intimate ceremony. Lunch followed there at the boat house - and family and friends did a wonderful job of making everything come together. One of the most beautiful parts of this wedding was the fact that the music was played by her family using the harp, guitar, violin and harmonica - this added such a beautiful and personal touch to their wedding. I was honored to be a part of this event! Enjoy the pictures!

The Neubeck Family

It was certainly a pleasure to be able to photograph the Neubeck family this past weekend. This was my second photo shoot for the Neubeck Family and as I expected it was a blast. Last year I had the privilege of doing some senior photos for one of the Neubeck's daughters but this year I got to meet the entire Neubeck Family. We had such a great time down at Ritter Springs Park here in Springfield - that is before it started to rain on us! Luckily we managed to beat the rain - an all too familiar circumstance seeing as the same thing happened last year.

There is never a dull moment with the Neubeck Family, and I must say I always look forward to working with these guys. They are so laid back and flexible, always willing to try new things. I had a great time - it did not even feel like I was working! Well, I hope you enjoy the pics!

The Pyatt Family

I got to spend Saturday afternoon with the Pyatt Family at Lake Springfield. The weather was mild and sunny unlike yesterdays weather. The Pyatt's have two of the most adorable children ever - even in matching outfits! I loved it! My afternoon was filled with lots of running around chasing after their oldest - but it made for great pictures! A special shout out to "Uncle Lenny" for helping out - that was awesome. Thanks to "Uncle Lenny" I got to spend some one on one time with the Pyatts and their youngest - only three weeks! Enjoy the pics!

Belly Bands & Baby Bands

Instead of buying props I got creative in trying to keep down the costs of my photography by making my own belly bands and head bands. Check them out! Now all I need is some little girls to model them for me! Right now all of my upcoming newborns are boys. I find that it kind of goes in trends - all boys for a few months - then all girls. Girls where are you!?!

Wooden Thread Spools

I was at Joanns the other day buying some thread for my up and coming craft projects. I bought one spool for like a $1.50 and that is the cheap stuff - when I got home I was digging through my craft supplies and found these. Some of these had a price tag on them for $0.30! Boy has that changed! I got these from a garage sale about 12 years ago when I got my first sewing machine. The thread colors are gorgeous but I don't use them because I like the look of the old spools.

I am branching out with Newborn Photography this year! Soo..I went ahead and bought some more floors/backdrops. I am super excited for this new season in my photography. I just got another floor from Photo Prop Floors and I must say I am always happy with their work. They come highly recommended from me! I just had to take some pics of Caleb on it before it gets worn in by all these little babies :) Can't wait for my newborn shoot in March!

Orchids {My Favorite Flower}

9 months and counting...

He is growing up! Caleb and I went to the park last week when it was 70 degrees out - weather has changed now - back to the 30s and 40s. We had a great time in the warm weather, and Caleb had an awesome time with his cheerios. Everyday I watch him grow I am amazed at just how smart he really is. He is such a good baby - or shall I say boy! :) I am enjoying every bit of my winter down season for photography. Now I get to take all the pictures I want of him - and he helps me keep up on my photography technique. Ahh... I cherish this time.

P.S. I am working on color blocks if you can't tell :)

John and I got to travel out to Stella Valentines Day weekend. We were in search of the 400 or so eagles that live in the area. Supposedly there are more eagles than people in the small town of Stella. Apparently we hit the wrong time of day because we saw two birds of prey - not sure if either one of them were eagles but we still had a good time. It was a relaxing drive, and the countryside of MO is absolutely stunning - especially covered in snow.

I LOVE photography. That is all there is to it.

Valentine's Day at the Washburn House

I spent the day slaving in the kitchen to make a John a very nice steak dinner and this wonderful dessert.

This was the first time I have used fondant icing. I made it myself via this recipe here, http://candy.about.com/od/fondantcandyrecipes/r/mm_fondant.htm, and much to my surprise I loved it! Caleb had his first cupcake - not the whole thing of course :)

Daddy got a cooler and some camping stuff - Caleb presented Daddy with his gifts.

I got some flowers - beautiful.

Vintage Dresser Project

NOT BAD. NOT BAD AT ALL! Love it. Finishing up the matching set! I really enjoyed antiquing this piece, and wish I had done before pics because it was pretty bad. Next time I will try not to get one that requires so much attention but for $40.00 it was still a steal for the style/age.

Will You Be MY VALENTINE???

This is Caleb's Valentine's Day shoot. We did it last week but it has taken me a while to get them up here. Thanks to the blizzard here in MO I now have plenty of time! I am just in love with this little guy!

Everyday he is getting bigger but I just cannot get over how tiny his little feet still are.

Momma is still working on the whole "tying a tie" thing...you would think with a college degree I could figure it out :)

Oh, this is cheesy but true - this little man holds the key to my heart...

I love to sit back and just watch him discover things/put things in his mouth. Everyday it is something new for him!

He is such a precious boy. So sweet and chill. Just like his Daddy. I love my BOYS!

We tried taking some photos with those traditional little heart candies but all Caleb wanted to do was eat them and since I did not have my assistant (John) to help me I resolved that those pictures will just have to wait till he is older.

Christian: Senior Portraits

This past Saturday I enjoyed a chilly afternoon taking some senior portraits with Christian. We started downtown and ended up on the courts. Basketball is Christian's passion and he was working it hard as I tried out some sports photography. For legal reasons I can only show certain photos - but enjoy the creativity in them. It was definitely hard to pick a favorite...he was such a great model! Wish you guys could see all of them!

Eight months...

here is my view for most of the days/weeks of army crawling...

and this is what I have been up to lately...been making baby food (which is way - way easier than anticipated)...

and I would not trade it for anything!!!

Being a parent is much different than I thought it would be. Easier in lots of aspects, harder in some, and completely surprising in others. Life is good.

Introducing BABY QUINN!

Today I had the privilege of doing a newborn shoot for the Morrison Family. This is blessing #6 for the Morrison Family! Not sure how Mama Morrison handles life with such poise with having six around - however I must say the Morrison children are always on their best behavior and every time we are around them we always have a blast. Thanks for letting me take Quinn's newborn photos, and WELCOME TO THE WORLD BABY QUINN!! (possibly future Mrs. Washburn) :)

So this is Caleb's Christmas magazine and this is my Christmas magazine...

... crazy because they came in umm...NOVEMBER 1st and NOVEMBER 2nd respectively! What! Seriously, that is nuts! Resist the mad scheme to buy, buy, buy during the Christmas season! Can we not just enjoy fall and Thanksgiving without the madness!

On another note... my "toys" are so much more expensive than Caleb's toys. Oh the joys of being a kid! Miss those days.

Little Man Grows Up

Tonight as I was dancing with my Little Man, just being silly, he looked up at me with those eyes, I thought someday I will be dancing with him at his wedding...I know that seems silly but I am learning to cherish every moment because they grow up too fast.

I told John that someday if Caleb gets married I will bawl my eyes out. He looked at me and laughed saying, "I know you will".
